Description:

 

Location: Ft. Wayne, IN

 

This position reports to the Director, Tissue Services and is based out of the Indianapolis office.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

·    Recovers musculoskeletal tissue, cornea, skin, bone and cardiovascular tissues including appropriate donor reconstruction, in accordance with FDA, AATB, OSHA, and IOPO processor standards of practice. 

·    Assists in the maintenance, stocking and preparation of supplies necessary for tissue recovery operations.

·    Ensures completion of all IOPO donor chart documentation.

 

Educational background and experience requirements include:

Successful completion of an allied health care technical or professional program with current certification, or Associates degree level study with an emphasis in allied health or science field that emphasizes human anatomy is required. Experience in tissue or organ donation or transplantation is highly desirable.  

 

Other skill and ability requirements include:

The ability to work seven 24 hour call shifts per month. Flexibility and willingness to travel within Indiana. The ability to lift weight up to (75) seventy-five pounds. The ability to represent the organization in a professional manner at all times is a requirement. The ability to interact effectively with physicians, hospital administrators, medical staff, employees at all levels and members of the general community is required.

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an opportunity available for an Organ Recovery Coordinator within the Orthopaedics,Tissue Bank division, located on our Medical Campus. This position ensures compliance with all OSHA, safety and HIPPA protocols. Serves as the active member of the Tissue Procurement Team. Recovers tissue according to all standards established by UMTB SOPs and current transplant needs. Documents all procurement activities completely and accurately. Assist with maintaining procurement instruments and equipment. Prepares and packs procurement instruments, equipment and supplies in preparation for procurement. Knowledge of gross anatomy and sterile techniques required. Must be able to be on call as required. Must be able to work over assigned working time to complete procurements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in related health field is preferred and two years minimum of  experience in active Certified Surgical Tech (CST) role, also preferred. Any appropriate combination of education, certifications and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
