We provide leadership and assistance to renal dialysis and transplant facilities in a manner that supports continuous improvement in patient care, outcomes, safety and satisfaction. We are proud to be one of 18 networks throughout the United States sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid to provide service and support to ESRD providers, patients and their families. We are currently seeking a Quality Improvement Director to join our team.

 

Quality Improvement Director

 

·    Plan, organize, direct and evaluate resource and quality management services, departments and programs, such as Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI), Utilization Review, Infection Control and Case Management.

·    Provide primary staff support to the Medical Review Board and the non-data committees of the Medical Review Board.

·    Direct and provide consultation to the QI and Patient Services Coordinators and assigned support staff on internal quality improvement activities.

·    Supervise application of the CMS Health Care Quality Improvement Program at the Network level, including all formal studies, projects and other reporting requirements.

·    Coordinate preparation and presentation of Medical Review Board Quality Improvement studies for the Network.

·    Prepare draft Quality Improvement Standards, Performance Criteria, Recommendation Papers and staff support for other Quality Improvement activities as directed by the Medical Review Board.

·    Prepare Quality Improvement component of the CMS and Network Quarterly and Annual Reports.

·    Direct and oversee the QI Coordinator’s activities, providing back-up coverage as necessary.

·    Serve as a resource to Patient Services/Community Information and Resources Department, as well as provides back-up coverage as necessary.

·    Serve as a resource to the State Survey Agency, QIO, non-ESRD providers and other parties who require information/assistance with quality/patient care-related issues

·    Work with the MRB to develop, implement and evaluate Network programs for quality improvement as described by the Statement of Work and CMS’s Health Care Quality Improvement Program (HCQIP). 

·    Assist the MRB in its evaluation of the comparative performance of facilities utilizing normative data contained in Network 18’s database and data from national sources, as well as criteria and guidelines developed by the Network.

·    Lead monitoring and performance of ESRD clinical outcome studies within the Network, including data abstraction and validation. 

·    Report information back to the appropriate party.

·    Propose and develop quality focused projects per directed by the MRB addressing specific Network issues in the delivery of quality patient care.

·    Prepare as directed by the MRB, written recommendations for improvements in the ESRD care of individual patients or groups of patient receiving care within the Network.

·    Conduct on-site investigations of quality concerns as directed by the MRB or the Executive Director.

·    Provide technical and health care/nephrology expertise regarding quality of care issues as requested, including patient grievance investigations.

·    Educate other Network staff in the CQI processes and act as a role model in the area of CQI.

·    Upkeep of the Network Internal Quality Program (IQP).

·    Work in consultation with state survey agencies (SSA) for issues related to ESRD and transplantation.

·    Partner with Quality Improvement Organizations (QIO) and other ESRD networks for QI activities.

·    Maintain expertise and skills in the area of Nephrology Nursing and quality improvement by literature review, attending educational offerings, etc.

·    Directly supervise one employee in the Quality Improvement Department

 

Qualifications:

 

·    Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent, preferably in Nursing or a related major.

·    4+ years experience in a management capacity.

·    Experience in dialysis and quality improvement programs is required.

·    Possess a strong knowledge base of quality improvement concepts and project design.

·    Excellent writing skills and the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously are essential.

·    Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook software and Microsoft Access database software.

·    Certification in Quality Management desired.
