Bristol-Myers Squibb is actively recruiting MDs for R&D Immunology.

Summary of Position Requirements/Responsibilities:

·     The position will report to the Vice President, US Medical Strategy Immunoscience and will oversee a staff of 4 individuals through 3 direct reports. The position will also oversee the US Medical Matrix team for Rheumatology/Orencia which is approximately 12 people.

·     MD with specialty in Rheumatology preferred. Related boards will also be considered. Since this is a strategically significant role within the company, the breadth of the role is such that the qualified candidate will have a considerable span of influence; therefore, the qualifications and characteristics of the ideal candidate are appreciably demanding

·     Must have at least five years experience in industry, including medical affairs experience and be a demonstrated leader of people.

·     Should have in depth medical knowledge of rheumatology, be familiar with all phases of pharmaceutical drug development, medical affairs, clinical testing, registration, and product maintenance, possesses an understanding of life cycle management of pharmaceutical products.

·     Knowledge of opinion leaders in the field of rheumatology. Understanding of the business of rheumatology.

·     Management experience working as a project leader of a multi functional project team and knowledge of planning processes and implementation.

Responsibilities:

·     Provide oversight and direction to Medical Strategy team in its development and implementation of all programs that support rheumatology product portfolio.

·     Interact productively with Medical Matrix functions, Marketing, Sales, Market Research and Franchise Development.

·     Interact constructively with the Global Marketing, Full Development Teams, Clinical Development, and Statistics in R&D.

·     Ability to create and communicate a compelling vision and provide strategic leadership inside and outside BMS that generates excitement, credibility, and that support the optimal use of Orencia.

·     Set clear, focused, challenging targets that ensure appropriate use of medicines and align to strategic objectives.

·     Ensure strong functional strength and productivity in all terms and promote morale, energy and enthusiasm.

·     Promote empowerment with skilled professionals to accomplish major business objectives and stretch themselves to widen skill to knowledge set, attract, assess, retain and develop highly competent, experienced personnel who meet rigorous standards of team spirit, creativity and technical depth.

·     Challenge status quo and seek innovative ways to address patients and thought leader needs.

·     Establish common goals and values that promote high performance of specialized research project teams.

·     Drive the organization toward highly competitive standards and encourage others to pursue these same standards.
