About the Department:

 

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is recruiting an Associate or Full Member (corresponding to Associate or Full Professor) to lead the growth and development of faculty in our Program of Computational Biology.  Applicants should have an excellent research history using quantitative methods to investigate biological mechanisms and have demonstrated success in bridging theoretical and empirical approaches.  Applicants could have expertise in such areas as computational genomics or proteomics, systems biology, or bioinformatics.  The successful applicant will have the capability of leading multidisciplinary research teams, with a pertinent record of funding. 

An appointment in a relevant department at the University of Washington is possible depending on mutual interest.

Description:

 

This position plans, coordinates and monitors projects and project groups from initiation through delivery and evaluation, and oversees all aspects of assigned projects. This role also leads and directs the organization and administration of IT systems development projects while utilizing the Project Management best practices framework, sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of project, identifies risks, issues and key stakeholders, develops and implements strategies to encourage and obtain stakeholder and/or business awareness and support, and identifies project partners. Typically manages moderate to highly complex initiatives and projects.

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, math, and computer science. However, upon evaluation, equivalent related experience and/or education may be substituted for the degree. PMP certification strongly preferred.

 

·    Five or more years experience in IT project management. Experience with projects in multiple technologies and functions.

·    Four or more years of professional experience in software development lifecycle project management.

·    Four or more years experience leading IT development projects with demonstrated success in interdepartmental meetings and implementation of large-scale, cross-functional projects, analyzing improvement for business and quality processes, and business writing.

 

Advanced knowledge of project management principles; project planning/execution/controlling; and software development methods and tools.
Strong demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills. Intermediate skills with MS Office; Project, Visio, Excel and Word

 

Ability to work in a complex, high speed, self-correcting environment in search of desirable results under conditions of high uncertainty and high change. Advanced written and oral communication, and presentation skills. Ability to use diplomacy in working relationships to address conflict and arbitrate solutions successfully.

Senior Manager – Clinical Informatics, National Marrow Donor Program, Minneapolis, Minnesota

 

Description:

 

This position is responsible for managing clinical informatics programming and support staff in the analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of projects that support the missions of both the Bioinformatics department and the CIBMTR. This includes development of new functionality and enhancements to existing application software programs as well as creating new applications to support future needs. This position will work closely with the other NMDP departments, CIBMTR, NMDP partner organizations, transplant and donor centers, governmental agencies and vendors as necessary to meet these goals.

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other technical field that required extensive computer programming as part of the degree requirement. However, upon evaluation, equivalent related experience and/or education may be substituted for degree requirement.

 

Six years experience in a software development environment. Experience must also include four years experience manager of a medium-to-large team and project management.

 

Advanced programming skills in a modern language. Relational database development experience (e.g. Sybase/MS-SQL/Oracle). Excellent written and oral communication skills.
