Description:

Directs patient care provided by support personnel for a specific shift. Identifies changes in patient's physiological condition. Communicates patient's status to multi-disciplinary team members. Communicates directly with patients and families about nursing care. Provides clinical interventions to meet patient's needs. Documents nursing process. Assimilates information from multiple sources and implements appropriate action plan to provide safe, quality care. Assures safety and security of patients, significant others, and staff.

Qualifications:

ACLS certified and a minimum of two years current critical care/ ICU experience REQUIRED. Cardiac ICU and/or Transplant ICU experience preferred. Current Illinois license as a Registered Nurse or license eligible required; BSN preferred. This position is 3 - 12 hour noc shifts, 7:30pm - 8am.

The Adult Cardiothoracic ICU Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center plays a critical role within the Cardiac and Thoracic Service Line of Excellence supporting it’s “Heart & Lung Institute”, the only stand-alone lung TRANSPLANT center in the Nation. Committed to the highest level of patient satisfaction, our CICU unit is a dedicated 16-bed unit that supports St. Joseph’s adult cardiac, vascular and thoracic post surgical patients and has a nurse to patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1.

Join us now as we are seeking Registered Nurses (RN) to coordinate, supervise and implement patient care based on competence, professional expertise, knowledge and evidence-based practice. The Registered Nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with professional standards, Nurse Practice Act and hospital job description.
