We currently have an opening for a Clinical Nurse II on our Hematology//Oncology Unit.

 

This 55 bed unit serves patients undergoing diagnostic, surgical and therapeutic interventions for cancer. There are three palliative care suites to serve patients and families with terminal or advanced-stage illnesses and four semi-private rooms that can accommodate up to eight hematology or oncology patients who require intravenous medications, blood products, electrolytes or other outpatient treatments when the Cancer Center and Medical Pavilion is closed.   BMT patients, whose immune systems are particularly vulnerable to infection, receive treatment and recovery in a 12-bed Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) environment separate from the Inpatient Cancer Care area. The unit also features a Family and Visitor Support and Resource Center which gives patients, families and visitors on-site access to cancer information, support and resources.

 

Job Requirements:

 

·    Kansas Registered Nurse license or eligible. 

·    2 or more years of RN experience. 

·    Must have an American Heart Association basic life support (BLS) or an American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification. 

·    Other certifications may be required depending on nursing unit.

·    Completes necessary documentation in clinic including labs, diagnostic testing, release forms and scheduling. 

·    Screens for abnormal values and reports results to physician for further direction. 

·    Reinforces plan of care with patient/family and provides patient education. 

·    Serves as a resource for follow-up care after discharge. 

·    Works closely with Pre-Transplant Liver Coordinator regarding information on patients who may be candidates for liver transplantation.

 

Job Requirements:

 

·    Associate's degree in Nursing. Bachelor's degree is preferred. 

·    Current Kansas RN license or eligible. 

·    3-5 years acute care or related nursing experience. 

·    2 years GI/Hepatology experience and experience in liver transplantation preferred.
