The Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University and Capital Health are jointly recruiting a new academic and administrative leader for the University and District Division of Nephrology to be based at the QEII Health Sciences Centre.

Capital Health is the largest integrated academic health district in Atlantic Canada with approximately 11,000 employees and 1,000 physicians. Capital Health provides core health services to 400,000 Halifax region residents (40% of the population of Nova Scotia) and tertiary and quaternary acute care services to residents of Atlantic Canada. At the present time, additional support is also given to Prince Edward Island for both pre-dialysis and dialysis care. Capital Health is also the Atlantic site for kidney and kidney/pancreas transplantation. There is active outpatient clinic activity in both general nephrology and renal transplantation. There are about 800-900 new referrals for outpatient nephrology care annually and 600 renal transplant recipients are followed annually.

To be considered for this position you bring significant leadership, clinical and educational skills and experience to this exciting role. You have an established record of accomplishments in clinical service and experience as a contributor in a multidisciplinary team. You will be an advocate for the Division of Nephrology and will work across the organization to ensure a positive environment and experience for patients, physicians and staff alike.  Your focus will be to direct and continue to develop the academic, educational and clinical mission of the Division of Nephrology. As well, division members have excellent opportunities for collaborative educational and research endeavors and a key role of the Head/Chief will be to ensure rewarding and fulfilling career development. Other requirements include Certification in Internal Medicine and Nephrology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent with eligibility for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.  Qualifications or expertise in the areas of basic science or clinical research such as outcomes research in the area of either transplantation or general nephrology/dialysis would be a definite asset.
