Description:
Works within the overall scope of Oncology, Hemotology, and Bone Marrow Transplant Service line to develop, implement, and deliver both verbal language interpretation and written translation to meet the multicultural needs of Oncology, Hemotology, and Bone Marrow Transplant pateints and their families. This position collaborates closely with the nursing and psychosocial team to provide language intervention that facilitates new diagnosis and on going education, return to clinic appointments, assistance with financial resource forms, and any other interventions requested by clinicians.
Qualifications:
This position requires that you have a minimum of the following skills and experience:
· Bachelor's degree in a medically-related field, or in linguistic, communication, education, sociology, or other related field Preferred
· 3-4 years of experience in formal interpretation
· Ability to speak, write and read in English and in Spanish
· Ability to pass an oral/written fluency test in English and in Spanish
· Training, knowledge and understanding in medical terminology
· Demonstrate ability to accurately and objectively interpret medical conversations and to translate written materials into Spanish
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
