Description:
Provide
support to the faculty of the Section of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
and the Section of Clinical Sciences under the supervision of the
Pediatrics Clinical Trial Office Manager. Work with Principal
Investigators, Attending Physicians, Oncology Nurses and MD fellows.
Coordinate pharmaceutical, federally funded and investigator initiated
studies, as well as multi-centered cooperative group and intergroup
studies at a national level for Oncology (involving various modalities
of cancer treatment), Stem Cell Transplant and Hematology with a focus
on Leukemia and Rare tumor studies. Prepare IRB submissions, report
adverse drug reactions, schedule, prepare and participate in all
program audits, maintain weekly program conference lists, attend
multidisciplinary conferences and workshops, manage all sectional
responsibilities to the Cancer Center and work with the Grants and
Personnel Manager and Oncology Nurse(s) in the preparation of new
program employee's orientation schedule and training. Perform all
aspects of clinical research activities including enrollment screening,
data collection, monitoring of study participants, data entry and data
quality control. Work with the study nurse to order and assure
scheduling of all study required tests. Interact with regulatory
agents, IRB's, Pharmacists, family members in addition to the staff of
the Department, the
Qualifications:
Bachelor's
degree required, scientific discipline preferred; minimum of one year
of clinical research experience preferred; familiarity with medical
terminology and records preferred; extensive knowledge of PC programs,
including WordPerfect (IBM), Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
required; excellent organization skills required; excellent
interpersonal and written communication skills required; the ability to
effectively present information both verbally and in writing required;
outstanding attention to detail and the ability to adapt and adjust to
changing work situations and assignments required; the ability to work
with minimal supervision and function both as a team member and be
involved in program problem solving is required; good judgment and be
able to work in a dynamic environment required; sincere desire to work
with patients and ability to display a caring demeanor required.

Description:
Successful candidate will have a clinical degree with direct patient care experience in an acute care setting and either training or experience with clinical trials.
In conjunction with the Transplant Institute principle investigators (PI), process new clinical trials through the representative offices of the Committee on Clinical Investigations (IRB), Clinical Trials Office (budget & contract), and Research and Academic Affairs (grant management) to ensure compliance with federal and institutional regulatory requirements
Work independently and with PI to:
· Develop research protocols
· Write grant proposals
· Prepare and negotiate budgets
· Coordinate with the Clinical Trials Office and Research and Academic Affairs the interdisciplinary (surgery, nephrology, and hepatology) research efforts within the Transplant Institute including oversight of grant expenses, receipt of funds, allocation of support, and conglomerate financial performance.
· Coordinate clinical research activities with a wide range of multi-specialty providers including clinical departments, ancillary services, and in-patient units to ensure the appropriate integration of research activities with standard patient care.
· Provide in-service training to clinical personnel including physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals regarding details of clinical trials.
· Participate in outpatient clinics to identify and screen potential research subjects including obtaining patient informed consent, monitoring for adverse events, and adherence to study requirement.
· Implement procedures to ensure research subject safety including continual data safety monitoring, communication of research outcomes, and corrective action plans for unanticipated events.
· Coordinate routine and ad hoc clinical research meetings to communicate appropriate clinical research information to the staff within the Transplant Institute, additional clinical departments, and ancillary services
· Collaborate with the Transplant Information Systems Administrator, Data Coordinator, transplant physicians, and nurse coordinators to ensure a functional clinical database that can facilitate the collection and retrieval of research data Communicate deadlines and facilitates abstract submissions to multiple national and international professional society meetings (ATC, ITNS, AASLD, ASN, etc).
· Prepare manuscripts for publication and presentations of research data for local, national, and international meetings.
· Establish professional relationships with scientific leaders in transplantation to ensure ongoing recruitment of clinical research to the Transplant Institute Participate as a member in the Transplant Institute’s leadership group with ongoing involvement in ad hoc development committees
Qualifications:

· Previous experience in clinical research, required.
· Previous immunology, solid organ or bone marrow transplant experience, preferred.
