Summary of Position Requirements/Responsibilities:
The position will report to the Vice President, Global Clinical Research Immunology and will oversee, either directly or through a matrix, physicians within the group.
MD degree is required with being board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology or related areas to Immunology. Training in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, Immunology, and/or relevant experience is preferred. Four plus years of industry experience strongly preferred. Prior demonstration of leading clinical programs or some important aspect there of preferred. Must have demonstrated originality and innovation in problem solving as applied to drug development. Excellent interpersonal skills at a variety of levels in collaborative and effective manner.
Responsibilities:
As a key scientific and clinical leader for the product within internal and external forums, serves as a key member of the core full development team and is responsible for internal and external scientific presentations related to the compound.
· Strategically creates the overall clinical plan for a program by soliciting and integrating input from statistics, regulatory, outcomes research, marketing and other experts.
· Ensures that studies are aligned with target label indications and commercial goals, and are properly designed and conducted.
· Oversees the review of safety and efficacy data across the program and integrates this information in order to detect relevant patterns and makes study modifications or start/stop recommendations as needed.
· Provides timely updates to program leads and governance boards.
· Provides medical and scientific experience to BMS colleagues in drug discovery, labeling, regulatory, outcomes research, and marketing/commercial departments.
· Provides scientific/medical input to, and reviews various study plans (e.g., analytical, monitoring, and data review plans), which are implemented by the Operations group.
· Initiates and develops key relationships with internal and external stakeholders (Key Opinion Leaders, Advisory Boards, and steering committees.).
· Provides medical/scientific perspective regarding pricing, reimbursement, quality of life, publications needed at launch, lifecycle management etc. in order to achieve the programs commercial objectives.

Responsibilities:
This is an important strategic leadership role for the Immunology Therapeutic Area (TA) within the BMS organization. Major responsibilities will include being the strategic leader for the Rheumatology TA strategy and being a medical lead for product(s) within the TA.
Clinical Strategic Leader for Rheumatology TA Strategy for BMS:
· Strategically create and communicate a vision for the Rheumatology TA at BMS and provide overall clinical leadership for the disease areas included (e.g., Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Psoriatic Arthritis, Scleroderma, etc.). Shape the clinical research and development strategy for pipeline assets (including research candidates and early/late-stage development assets) within the rheumatology disease area.
· Provide scientific and clinical input into significant due diligence activities for String of Pearls and other business development licensing activities.
· Lead a group of clinical research professionals and provide strategic oversight on clinical development strategies and clinical trial design and execution (focusing on designing and conducting clinical trials from Phase IIa through Phase IV on a global basis).
· Act as key scientific and clinical leader for the disease area within internal and external forums; primary interface between BMS and medical contacts in the scientific community.
· Responsible for internal and external communications, develops key relationships with KOLs, Advisory Boards, etc.
· Is the lead clinical expert when developing regulatory strategies and responsible to regulatory agencies for the disease area.
· Lead the medical aspects of the disease area (safety and efficacy) and based on data, makes recommendations as appropriate.
· Partner closely with colleagues in discovery, development, regulatory, commercial, and other key functional areas on a global basis to translate strategies into objectives and action plans.
· Bring knowledge about the field to the Immunology franchise of new approaches and innovation that creates value.
· Provide coaching and mentoring to other members of the disease area in order to elevate the level of the knowledge and of the best practices, thus being a reference person in the learning process.
· Provide timely updates to governance boards.
Medical Lead for a Clinical Asset within the Rheumatology TA:
· Shape the clinical research and development strategy for the asset and serve on the Full Development Team (FDT) while leading the Clinical Development Team (CDT).
· Supervise clinical trials and protocols for the asset; focusing on designing and conducting clinical trials from Phase IIa through Phase IV on a global basis.
· Oversees the review of safety and efficacy data across the program, based on data, makes recommendations as appropriate.
· Work closely with colleagues in discovery, development, regulatory, commercial, and other key functional areas for the asset on a global basis.
· Ensures that program level information is shared with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., investigators, KOLs) as well as CROs and alliance partners as appropriate.

Position Title: Executive Director, Immunology Global Medical Affairs

· Develop and coordinate medical disease level inputs (which incorporate regional and global functional perspective) to inform disease strategies, disease focused medical objectives and plans.
· Design and execute disease area Ad Boards and relevant medical market research activities.
· Build and execute Worldwide TL Interface Plan: medical objectives and executable plan including advocacy.
· Provide consolidated medical insight and guidance on external medical practice, patient and payor needs (that reflect regional input).
· Partner with Health Outcomes to develop aligned Outcomes Research Plan.
· Medical Disease viewpoint into the core medical content and disease focused Core Scientific Communication Points.
· Above region identification and resolution of core data gaps / core LCM strategy and issue resolution across regions / countries, as it relates to disease objectives.
· Accountable to VP Medical (Global Medical -HQ).
· Coordination of forward-looking Disease Level strategies across the organization.
· Interaction with Commercial counterparts on Disease Level insights.

Position Title: Director, Discovery Medicine & Clinical Pharmacology Immunology

Summary of Position Requirements/Description:
The position reports to the Executive Director, Discovery Medicine & Clinical Pharmacology Immunology and will oversee early development teams.
· MD degree is required with being board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology or related areas to Immunology.
· 2 to 5 years clinical experience gained through industry experience. Management experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
· Experience leading representatives on one or more drug development teams in cross functional matrix teams.
· Project management and or strategy experience in drug development with multiple compounds in various stages of development.
Responsibilities:
· Directs human clinical trials, phases I and II, for pharmaceutical products under development.
· Manages a matrix team including PhDs, Pharmacokineticists, and Clinical Scientists in the planning, execution, and interpretation of clinical trials and research and the data collection activities.
· Assists in the interpretation of clinical pharmacology profiling for Phase I and early Phase II immunology clinical trials, and the design of drug to drug interaction, age and gender, renal and hepatic impairment, food effect, and ADME Absorption Distribution Metabolic Excretion studies on healthy volunteers.
· Leads the investigative medicine function for Phase I and early Phase II immunology trials, including leading the team of professionals who design and perform small studies designed to understand drug interaction with molecular targets and the disease process.
· Designs experimental protocols and patient record forms.
· Prepares protocols and conducts clinical studies of products that have been determined to satisfy medical need and or offer a commercial potential.
· Serves as medical scientific expert to marketing or research project teams and government regulatory agencies.
· Establishes conditions essential for determining the safety, efficacy, medical usefulness, and marketability of drug candidates.
· Monitors and or interprets results of Phase I and II investigations in preparation for new drug application.
· Coordinates and develops reporting information for reports submitted to the FDA.
· Participates as Discovery Medicine expert in licensing and acquisition evaluations.
