Job Description:
Gift of Life Donor Program, the non-profit agency serving eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware, is responsible for recovering and distributing organ, tissues, bone and cornea used in life-saving and life-enhancing transplants.
This is an excellent opportunity for surgical technologist and other clinically experienced individuals residing in the Harrisburg area who are knowledgeable in anatomy, physiology and aseptic techniques to train and work on a per diem (as needed) basis as Tissue Recovery Specialists.
You will sterilize and pack tools and equipment, travel and transport equipment to donor hospitals and assist in the recovery of tissue and bone in a sterile operating environment.
Preferred Skills:
Graduation from a certified surgical technology program or completion of an Associate degree program in related profession and at least one year of surgical technology experience is required.

Job Description:
Gift of Life Donor Program, the non-profit agency serving eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware, is responsible for recovering and distributing organ and tissues used in life-saving and life-enhancing transplants.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Tissue Recovery Specialist to lead the tissue team in the recovery of tissue and bone (at various hospitals located in the GLDP service area as well as in our own recovery suites) and to ensure compliance with FDA, EBAA, AATB Guidelines and GLDP Standard Operating Procedures.
You will perform recoveries adhering to established protocols and procedures; monitor the performance of the recovery team; ensure policies and procedures are followed by the recovery team; coach and train team members when necessary; assist with the continued implementation and improvement of the blood borne pathogen, safety and quality assurance programs.
You will assemble and load necessary equipment and supplies for transport to donor hospitals; travel to donor hospitals; set up necessary supplies for recovery; position, drape, and prep donor following GLDP policies; obtain sterile blood for culture and serology study; perform instrument count and sterilization procedures; reconstruct, clean and provide standard post mortem care to donor; clean and return OR to previous condition; adhere to the policies and procedures applicable to the sterilization and packaging of equipment; repack and restock donor bags and supplies after each case.
Preferred Skills:
Associate degree in a related field of study plus three years directly applicable experience. Must obtain CTBS and CEBT upon completing one year of employment.
Must reside in the Hershey/Harrisburg/Lebanon area and must possess a valid driver's license. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 pounds. You must be able to work regular overnight shifts and perform on-call duties on scheduled weekdays and every 3rd weekend.

Successful completion of a 1 year allied health care technical or professional program with current certification, or ORT, or Hospital Corpsman, or Associates degree level study in an allied health or science field, or 2 years of experience in tissue banking or related field. Position Description:
The PRN Tissue Procurement Technician is responsible for all activities related to the procurement of tissues. Following satisfactory completion of all required procedural training, the PRN TPT is responsible for maintaining an understanding of all applicable AATB, EBAA, FDA, OSHA, Musculoskeletal, Cardiovascular, and Skin affiliate processing and/or placement agency, and Midwest Transplant Network policy, procedures, and protocols, and performing said in accordance with established standards of practice.
Qualifications:
The minimum requirements for this position include an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences, or certification as an Operating Room Technician, LPN or Embalmer. Previous extended experience is tissue/eye procurement/processing may be substituted for an undergraduate degree or professional certification. Operating room or surgical experience, or certification as a CTBS and/or CEBT is preferred.
