Full Time Days

The RN in Bone Marrow Transplant coordinates all aspects of care for autologous stem cell/bone marrow, allogeneic stem cell/bone marrow (related, unrelated, cord blood) transplant recipients and donors (related and unrelated through the NMDP).

·    knowledge of intra and post transplant processes

·    coordinate ancillary pharmacologic therapies (e.g. chemotherapy agents, GVGD , immunotherapy, blood products, electrolyte replacements)

·    Administration and monitoring of pt¿s receiving blood products, IV therapy and replacement of electrolyte imbalances.

·    assist physicians with procedures, such as bone marrow biopsies, transplant  and
bone marrow harvest in the OR

 

Other:

 

·    provides continuing education for promotion of donor awareness as well as chronic illness education to hospital and community medical staff

·    coordination of organ donors, between organ procurement agency, transplantation, surgeons, recipient coordinators and patients, assist in match of recipient to donor

·    participates in data collection for CIBMTR, NMDP, national registers and for departmental and FDA research projects

·    develop, monitor and implement clinical protocols for patients care, IPD  and OPD

·    provide and participate n orientation of medical and hospital personnel with regard to the functions of the transplant Services

·    develop, collect and analyze data concerning quality assurance projects
case presentations and evaluation of potential candidates for selection committee.

Supervises care delivered by patient care team; coordinates plan of care; provides education for patients and staff; collaborates with other disciplines; provides direct patient care for specific patient age groups.

 

Qualifications:

 

·    Associate’s Degree or equivalent required.

·    Bachelor’s degree preferred.

·    Minimum of 1 year of experience is required.

·    CPR/BLS is required.
