This position as an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Scholar Track primarily involves clinical assessment, psychotherapy/intervention, and consultation with adult medical patients, including acute, chronic, and life-threatening illness, and transplant populations. Clinical experience in medical settings is a prerequisite. Outpatient activities are primarily in the Primary Care Center of the University of Minnesota Medical Center. The position offers contact with diverse clinical populations, including, but not limited to primary care, endocrine, oncology, neurology, obesity, solid organ and bone marrow transplants, sleep disorders and cochlear implants. It also provides exposure to a broad range of psychiatric conditions. The position involves participation quality improvement projects such as chronic disease management programs (e.g., diabetes, depression). Although this position is primarily clinical, opportunities for research collaboration exist. Participation in ongoing research projects and in grant-funded research is encouraged (e.g., data collection, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant preparation). Limited involvement in teaching and training is possible. Strong clinical, interpersonal, and writing skills are required in this busy academic healthcare setting. Preference will be given to scientist-practitioner graduates from APA-accredited clinical or counseling psychology doctoral programs (Ph.D.) with APA accredited internship in a medical setting and eligibility for board certification in clinical health psychology or clinical psychology. Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Psychotherapy/Intervention - Eclectic psychotherapy competencies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, crisis-intervention, and supportive therapy. 2. Psychological Consultation - Assessment and treatment of patients, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in outpatient and inpatient medical settings. 3. Psychological Assessment - Diagnostic assessment, including administration, scoring, and interpretation of standard psychological instruments (e.g., MMPI 2, Beck Depression Inventory). 4. Appropriate management and documentation of clinical services, including billing, prior authorization, treatment planning, timely response to outpatient and inpatient consultation referrals, timely completion of clinical management tasks, communication with other health professionals, and use of electronic medical record (EMR). 5. Meets clinical expectations for quality and quantity (i.e., productivity, caseload) of services provided. 6. Participation in Teaching - Provide teaching to patients, families, the public, psychology trainees, and trainees and staff in other health disciplines. 7. Participation in Research - Encouragement to participate in funded research projects including study design, implementation, analysis, manuscript preparation and to pursue grant funding for new projects. 8. Participation in clinical quality improvement activities.

1. Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from APA-accredited doctoral program; 2. Completed psychology internship in APA-accredited program in a healthcare setting; 3. Previous clinical experience (i.e., assessment, intervention, consultation) with medical, psychiatric, and neurological populations; 4. License eligible including having passed EPPP. License from the Minnesota Board of Psychology is required by start date; 5. Moderate word processing skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
1. Previous provision of psychological services in academic healthcare environment; 2. Board certified in clinical health psychology or clinical psychology or intent to pursue board certification; 3. Clinical hypnosis and biofeedback skills or able to develop skills while in position; 4. Statistical analysis and professional writing skills; 5. Experience in providing clinical care as part of multidisciplinary team. Serving as the administrative entity for Piedmont Physicians Group (PPG), Piedmont Medical Care Corporation (PMCC) is a member of Piedmont Healthcare, which provides Atlanta area residents with exceptional services through its four hospitals, heart institute and physicians group.
 
Currently, we seek a highly skilled psychologist to promote positive health outcomes among transplant patients and their families by providing consultation and liaison activities. Responsibilities will include evaluating and developing plans of care for patients and families who are undergoing organ transplantation (i.e. liver, kidney or pancreas) and who are considering living organ donations (liver, kidney). You will also coordinate the psychosocial needs of transplant candidates, recipients, living donors and their families in a compassionate, culturally competent and tactful manner to facilitate access and provide continuity of care.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • A Ph.D. or related Master’s degree from an accredited college or university 
  • A minimum of one year of experience in an APA-accredited internship with transplant experience
  • State of Georgia licensure
  • Proficiency in Windows 2000 and Office 2000
