Role Purpose
The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for the care of people by participating in the provision, development and coordination of comprehensive pharmaceutical care and quality assurance programs. Provides educational in-service and serves as a resource to personnel in other departments. This position performs responsibilities and duties in a manner attentive to age specific criteria when appropriate.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides quality drug distribution and comprehensive pharmaceutical care for patients within established quality assurance procedures
- Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and economic drug treatment
- Provides educational in-service for members of the health care team
- Ensures pharmaceuticals are stored appropriately and securely to ensure freshness and potency
- Collaborates with other health care professionals to devise most appropriate drug treatment for patients in age-specific groups
- Graduate of an Accredited Pharmacy Program
- Current Pharmacist Licensure in Missouri or ability to obtain
- Current Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) Residency Training within 3 years
- Pharmacist experience 3 months or more
- Basic Word Processing Skills
- Basic Presentation Software Skills
- Pharmacy residency training or fellowship 2 years or more
- Residency training in Bone Morrow Transplant
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking and complex problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a teamwork environment

The transplant clinical specialist, through development of their own clincal practice, will provide direct patient care to solid organ transplant patients as well as provide guidance and direction for other members of the medical staff, the department of pharmacy, pharmacy and medical residents and students.
